An original poem written uniquely for you to celebrate a wedding and making the most beautiful wedding gift.

Present to your intended on your wedding morning, or even read aloud as part of a speech. It makes a truly special gift from a family member or friend to give to a couple, as they tie the knot.

We'll ask you for some details about the bride and groom, then The Original Poet will turn your ideas into an original rhyming poem. Once approved, it will be made into a beautiful foiled print, embossed with The Original Poet's signature mark, then professionally framed and gift-wrapped.

No formulas or templates are ever used in the writing of our poems.  As Lizzie writes each commission with great passion, tuning in to what you would like say, she does not set a word-count which might restrict the flow of her beautiful words. As a guide though, the poem will be around 28-48 lines long.

We commissioned Lizzie to write a poem as a gift for our best friend’s wedding. We wanted to give them something special that they would cherish forever. It far exceeded our expectations and our friends were thrilled and very touched with the gift. Lizzie captured them perfectly and the poem was beautifully and tastefully presented. Thank you!. x

How it works

When you order, you will be sent a short questionnaire asking for the lowdown on the happy couple.

Your poem will then be personally written by our founder, award winning poet and artist Lizzie Mole. Taking your anecdotes, facts, nicknames and memories, she will weave them into a uniquely original, often humorous and heartfelt poem.

A draft will be sent to you by email for approval and any tweaks can be made if needed.

Product details

Your poem will be printed on the highest quality archival paper from heritage paper merchant GF Smith.

The fine-grain smooth art paper is 240gsm and has been selected specifically for foiling to ensure a beautiful finish. Simply choose from silver, gold or rose gold at the point of ordering.

The framed poem is approximately A4 in size, with outside dimensions of 24.2 x 30.3cm and depth 3.7cm

Our frames are handmade in Brighton by a highly skilled framer, specialising in hand-finishing. We've chosen a simple hand-painted white frame with a slight grain to complement our foiled poems.

The frame has been designed with a recess, which means there is a space between the print and the glazing. This allows the light to really catch the foiled finish, as well as creating a gallery-style look, only achieved by professional framing.

The frame is made from sustainably sourced pine and is glazed with picture grade acrylic.

Example poem

To Heidi dear, the time is near

for wedding bells to chime,

we know that love is in the air,

so mark it with this rhyme.

Your handsome Prince was waiting,

when a meeting made by chance,

began this lovely fairytale,

as you paired-up to dance!

And as the music played,

we know you jived, salsa’ed and swung,

each liked the way the other moved,

more than a fling that’s flung.

If music be the food of love,

you ‘dined out’ on this theme,

at concerts, gigs and ‘festies’ too,

became a winning team.

And I recall the very day,

this wedding came to be,

a Brighton trip to buy the ring,

you then bumped into me!

With grins that really said it all,

‘Shall we tell her?’ (Heidi tarried)

a nodding smile from Nigel,

then she beamed, ‘we’re getting married!’

And so the day is here at last,

when you will say I do,

the setting is a castle,

more fairytales for you!

And we are chuffed to little bits,

that we’ve been asked to share,

this very special day with you,

can’t wait to see you there.

We’ll be waiting for your first dance,

as you’ve hinted with your dress,

you cannot wait to hit the floor,

with twirling to impress

So let’s raise a glass of fizzy,

to our dancing King and Queen

‘to Heidi and to Nigel’,

and your ‘Strictly’ wedding dream!
